About the Garland Law Firm
The Garland Law Firm began in North Iowa in 1976. In 1980, Philip L. Garland moved his practice to Garner. Garner is located just twenty miles from I-35 in North Iowa. Phil and his staff have experience in personal injury cases, probate, trusts and estates, contract disputes, commercial law, bankruptcy, family and juvenile law, real estate and title transactions, and a variety of other criminal and civil matters.
Phil graduated from Creighton University School of Law in 1973 and practiced for an eight-person firm in Omaha, NE. An Iowa native, Phil always wanted to practice in small-town Iowa. In 1976, Phil opened the Garland Law Firm.
The Iowa State Bar Association awarded Phil with two of their highest honors: the President's Award, recognizing Phil's service to the profession and the citizens of Iowa, and the Roland Grefe Pro Bono Publico Award, honoring Phil's lifelong commitment to providing access to justice to individuals in his community and throughout the state.
Phil served on the Iowa State Bar Association Board of Governors and Administrative Committee for several years, and is currently Chair of the nationally-recognized Rural Practice Program.
Phil serves on a number of boards, including the NIACC Foundation Board, and is committed to the North Iowa area through pro bono service and an integrity-based practice. Phil and his wife, Jody, have been married for 39 years and have four adult children.
